Most of the World is Seeing Average Temperatures or Higher

Because it's so cold in the northeastern U.S. at the moment, it's worth pointing that the vast majority of the globe's surface is currently seeing average temperatures or higher. (It's 64°F in Salem, Oregon right now, just before 5 pm. The normal high for this date is 51°F. We're just 35 miles south of Montreal's latitude.) This will be useful when February's anomaly come in to be quite high, and we'll hear "but Boston" or "but New York City." (GISS just found January to be the second-warmest January in their records, and the 13th-highest anomaly of any month since 1880.)
